Delhi Airport is approximately 22 kms from railway station in delhi. It is approximately 12 kms from Gurgaon- delhi border. Airports in Delhi are the vital link to the entire country. New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) is the busiest airport in the country, having a capacity of handling 46 million passengers. By 2030, it is estimated that the airport will be able to handle more than 100 million passengers. Earlier, the airport was run by Indian Air Force and later on it was transferred to Airports Authority of India (AAI). In May 2006, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) a joint venture led by the GMR Group was given the management of the environment. DIAL is the organization, which has taken over the responsibility of the renovation, modernization and expansion work going on at the airport.

Delhi Airport Terminals

New Delhi’s IGI airport has four terminals. It is suggested that you get in touch with the respective airlines, before reporting for the flight to know about the terminal you have to report to. The four terminals at the airport are:
  • Terminal 1A – this terminal is used for domestic departures for Indian Airlines, Go Air, MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines flights
  • Terminal 1D – This terminal is used for domestic departures of Indigo, SpiceJet, Go Air, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Kingfisher Red, and Paramount Airways flights.
  • Terminal 1C – this terminal is used for all domestic arrivals.
  • Terminal 3 – all international flights operate from this terminal.
Delhi Airport Passenger Rules

For domestic travel it is suggested that you report to the airport 90 minutes prior to the time of departure. Passengers for international flights must arrive, three hours prior to departure for check-in and security screening. Pregnant women are allowed to travel on domestic flights, with a fitness certificate from the doctor. However, if the pregnancy term is above 32 weeks, traveling is not allowed. Passengers will have to carry doctor’s prescription for medicines that they carry both in the hand and checked-in baggage.
