Ambica Empire looks like something a Victorian architect
designed and left behind. The lobby and the public areas of
the hotel have a very royal feel to them and the dark wood
trappings give it a very imperial feel… hence the name:
Ambica Empire. No stone has been left undone in creating the
décor of the hotel. It might make you wonder though
whether you were standing in the lobby of the Ambica Empire
hotel in Chennai or visiting the last residence of the former
viceroy. It's a 3 star hotel themed to look like a 4 star.
The décor of the rooms at the Ambica Empire is a slight
mismatch, with a cross between classical Victorian and contemporary.
To further add to the classical feel to the rooms, like most
3 star hotels, they lack Internet connectivity. This lack
of connectivity is made by the well-equipped business center
at the Ambica Empire.
Ambica Empire has two restaurants and a bar. The Royal Palate
takes you back in time and has excellent food and service.
It is a multi-cuisine restaurant. Sanskruti offers the very
best of traditional Indian dining. The bar named A Million
Dollars is somewhat oxymoronic though. The paneling and wood
work make it look like a regular English pub, but look at
the servers and the art over the bar and you are taken from
the typical English Pub to a saloon in the wild west! Talk
about a twist!
