The media of Chhattisgarh comprises of newspapers, magazines and news journals, radio and television. The media here is spread mostly in the urban areas and is primarily accessed by those living in the urban areas. The newspapers having presence in Chhattisgarh include Dainik Bhaskar, Deshbandhu, Navbharat, Central Chronicle, Highway Channel, Sandhya Dainik Chintan, Sandhya Dainik Pahat, Sandhya Dainik Ambindu, Chhattisgarh Yug and Era Films, Savera Sanket, Nandgaon Times, Krishak Yug, Chhattisgarh Jhalak, Dava, Choubey Times, Era Films and Chhattisgarh Yug.
The other news publications here include Amrit Sandesh, Samvet Shikhar, Swadesh, Maha Kaushal, Agradoot, Aaj ki Jhandhara, Tarun Chhattisgarh, Rashtriya Hindi Mail, Hindustan Times, Raudramukhi Swar, Hitavada, Dainik Hindustan and the Press Club. Most of these news weeklies and dailies are published in Hindi and English. All these news publications form an important constituent of the media of Chhattisgarh.
All India Radio (AIR) stations have spread all over India, with presence in all the major cities. There is an AIR radio station in the capital city of Raipur. Raipur also has a Gyan Vani radio station. There are also All India Radio stations in other cities of Chhattisgarh like Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Raigarh and Sairapur. There is also a MY FM station in Bilaspur, which belongs to a private enterprise. Radio is an important feature of media of Chhattisgarh.
The Era News Service is the first visual news agency of Chhattisgarh. Besides most of the places of Chhattisgarh have the facility of Doordarshan broadcast. Raipur has a Doordarshan center. Cartoon Watch, India's first published cartoon magazine, is published in Chhattisgarh. There has always been a flow of art, culture and literature in Chhattisgarh. In fact, MR Sapre from the Pendra Road published a magazine called 'Chhattisgarh Mitra' which focused on this region from as early as 1901.
However, the media of Chhattisgarh does not have much of a reach in the rural and the tribal areas of the state.
