Noida Metro

Noida is the first city in the National Capital Region (NCR) line to find connectivity to the metro network that covers a distance of 90 kms and 78 stations. The metro train services can be availed at an interval of 5 to 10 minutes. However, with the passage of time, the frequency of the metro rail service in Noida will be increased. It is expected that every second train from Yamuna Bank will connect to the city of Noida. Presently, it is the third train that’s reaching here.

The metro train in Noida runs over 7kms connecting passengers to Sector 15, Sector 16 and Sector 18 in the city. The other stops are Golf Course, Botanical Garden and Sector 32 City Centre.

• Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Noida closed a deal to start work on Delhi-Noida Metro Rail project on 7 April 2006.
• The project costing was estimated at Rs.736 crore.
• It was decided that the metro line will stretch 7 kms long.
• The services will be made available through Sector 15, Sector 16 and Sector 18 in Noida, Golf Course, Botanical Garden and Sector 32 City Centre.
• According to reports, Noida had to pay the land cost of around Rs. 32 crore.
• Government of UP and the Central Government paid the remaining cost of Rs.611 crore.
• The stipulated project completion date was June 2009.
• On November 2009, S Jaipal Reddy (minister of Union Urban Development) inaugurated the Yamuna Bank-Noida line. The ceremony was attended by E Sreedharan (managing director at DMRC) and Sheila Dikshit (chief minister of Delhi).
• Mayawati, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated the first train at the Noida City Centre station.
• The Chief Minister of UP boarded the first metro to travel to Noida Sector 16 and back to the Noida City Centre station.
