Find Yourself in Goa

Find Yourself in Goa

Goa can help you to let go of your selves and let you be yourself. There is no denying the fact that nature has endowed the geography of Goa with an impressive 105 km long coastline, and a pleasant climate, which together have contributed to make Goa one of the greatest beach destinations on this planet.

But no, it is not only about Goa's alluring beaches, which induce to bring out the latent adventurous streak within you, it is also equally about the deep-rooted culture of Goa, imbued with rich Portuguese influences, that makes travel to Goa an experience to savour. However, despite a strong Portuguese current, Goa's culture is essentially pluralistic in character, and is also shaped by Hindu and Moghul traditions. In fact, the culture of the state with a unique appeal is a byproduct of the long history of Goa, which has witnessed diverse influences during its continual tenure through millennia.

The various aesthetic manifestations of Goa's culture are found in the handicrafts of Goa, which are simply exquisite, and deservedly attract considerable popularity among the tourists. The cuisines of Goa are spicy, hot and wonderfully tasty and can make you feel like coming to Goa…again and again. The costumes of Goa also amply exhibit the striking colours of Goa, especially during the exuberant fiesta of the Carnival. In Goa, celebration is a habit, and the folk dances of Goa carry this euphoric spirit in fleeting steps.

Though the official language of Goa is Konkani, and mainly Konkani and Marathi are spoken by the common people of Goa, but many of the locals are well conversant in Hindi and English too, which makes travel through Goa a smooth ride. However, Goa is not only about travel and fun; Goa also means business. The business and economy of Goa is centered on tourism and mining, but fisheries, IT, fertilizers and feni distilling industries also play important roles in the economy of the state.

The politics of Goa has been restive during 1990-2005, but the political instability in Panaji has not affected the Goan people's music, dance, festive spirit and the jest for life to the least. The vibrant media of Goa is playing its role of being a watchdog to the political climate prevailing in the state. Presently, a Congress-led coalition rules Goa's politics, but the water sports of Goa has been ruling the adventure tourism of Goa since ages.
