For the uninitiated there are plenty of places to see in Diu where some new experiences are always waiting at the corner. The major places to visit in Diu are Nagoa Beach, Gangeshwar, Panikotha-Fortim Do Mar and INS Khukri Memorial. In addition, there are some other Diu tourist attractions such as Ghoghla Beach, Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the Hoka trees and St. Thomas Church – Museum.
However, for travelers keen on more Diu sightseeing there are some other choices such as The Fort, Jallandhar Shrine, St. Paul’s Church and musical fountain at Collector office. The Nagoa Beach allows the tourists to bask in glorious sunshine and enjoy their time by bathing and having fun. The Panikotha-Fortim Do Mar is a famous tourist spot of this island that is located at Southern Gujarat. Gangeshwar is a major cave temple and a prominent tourist destination as well.
The INS Khukri Memorial counts as one of the best places to see in Diu. This site has tremendous historical significance. It was opened on 15th of December, 1999 in order to commemorate the sailors and officers who attained martyrdom when their warship INS KHUKRI was hit and drowned by a hat trick of torpedoes that had been fired by a Pakistani submarine named PNS Hangor on 9th December 1971 at a time when the Indo-Pak war was on. The St. Thomas Church – Museum is among the prominent museums in Gujarat.
