Adventure Sports in Kullu-Manali

Kullu-Manali is an ideal place to undertake adventure sports. Many tourists from around the world make a trip to Kullu-Manali for indulging in some adrenaline-pumping adventure sports. Trekking is one of the most favourite adventure sports in Kullu-Manali. The most famous trek in Kullu-Manali is the trek to the Lake of the Moon. The trek takes you over the Hamta pass, to reach the beautiful, crystal blue Chandratal Lake. Trekkers have to climb the altitude of 4270m to reach this lake. From this point, you get the breathtaking view of the world below, which is mesmerizing.

Besides trekking, mountaineering is also a part of the adventure sports in Kullu-Manali. The valley of Kullu has seen various national and international expeditions. Some of the peaks are about 5,000 to 6,000 meters; these peaks have tested the courage of various national and international mountaineers. However, it can be dangerous if you are not well trained. They are not for the beginners.

The beginners however, can have their mountaineering experience in the lower ridges of the Hanuman Tibba and the Deo Tibbha. These ridges are tall enough to make the first attempt at mountaineering unforgettable. The Beas Kund, Chandratal and the Malana glaciers are popular amongst the ice climbers. Solong Valley, located 13 km from Manali, serves as a base for trekkers and mountaineers.

Skiing is one of the most favourite adventure sports in Kullu-Manali. As this sport is not as dangerous as mountaineering, many tourists try their hand in it. The mountain slopes of the Kullu-Manali valleys are a good place to for skiing adventures. There are various groups in Kullu-Manali, which coach beginners in the sport of skiing. Tourists can hire the equipments required for this sport on the spot. Hence, this sport is a convenient option to spend a quality time with your family. Rohtang Pass is an ideal place to enjoy skiing adventures. Paragliding is another of the dare devil sports. This sport involves hanging in the open sky with the support of only a hand glider. This sport is very popular amongst the intrepid travellers. Paragliding is organized throughout the year at the Solang valley near Manali. Tourists can try this sport at other locations too like the Marhi, Fatru, and Bijli Mahadev, etc.

For the convenience of the tourists there are two types of flights; the short flights are for the beginners. Here travellers are taken in two-seater paraglide along with an experienced pilot. The flight lasts for 60-90 minutes and attends a height of 100 to 150 meters. In the high flight, the client is alone and the flight lasts for about 20 to 30 minutes. These flights are for the experienced pilots who have undergone a number of short flights.

White river rafting is a very thrilling kind of adventure sport. White river rafting is carried on at the Kullu Valley. It starts at Pirdi and stretches down to Jhiri. As river Beas is the main river in this valley, the adventure sport is mainly carried on this river. The journey takes about one and half hours where you cross several rapids and falls. This activity requires the whole day.

Touring the mountains in a jeep could also be a part of the adventure sports in Kullu-Manali. This is a safer sport but still it is thrilling. In these tours, you can explore the wild and unexplored side of the mountains.

These adventure sports help you in living life on the edge. The experience you get from an adventure sport is something that you cannot have in cites. However, to indulge in them and enjoy them to their full, you need to conquer your fears, which in itself no mean task.
