Raghunathji Temple

Kullu is the most extraordinary hill station, situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This place is a hub for tourists. The Raghunathji Temple is situated at a height of 2050 m above the sea level. The temple is dedicated to Lord Raghunath. Lord Raghunath is considered as another form of Lord Ram. Raja Jagat Singh built the temple in the 17th century. It is believed that the idol that is present here was brought from the birthplace of Lord Ram i.e. Ayodhya. From the day it is installed there the Lord became the presiding deity of the valley. The Raghunathji temple is built where the maharaja installed the idol of Lord Ram in his chariot. The Raghunathji temple is an important pilgrimage destination in Himachal Pradesh. The temple is beautifully decorated during the festive season of Dushhera and many people come and visit the place to pay homage to the Lord.

The most striking feature that is unique to this temple is the festival of Dushhera, which marks the onset of great celebrations and fervor. Many activities center round the temple. During this period, the Raghunathji temple gets adorned with many flowers and lights, marking the destruction of the demon king Ravana, and the Lord Rama's return to his homeland. It is one of the best places to visit in Kullu and can be reached easily by any mode of transport. The nearest airport is the Bhuntar airport and the nearest railway station is the Jogindernagar station. Through roads too it is very well connected to the major cities of the state. Thus reaching the temple is not at all a problem.

Every year, the temple celebrates the festivity of Dushhera with great enthusiasm and gaiety. Many devotees from all over the country and the tourists from outside the country pay their tributes to Lord Ram, by visiting this sacred place. Visit to the Raghunathji temple of Kullu is a must while touring the places in Himachal Pradesh.
