Manali Sanctuary

The Manali Sanctuary is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The city of Manali is surrounded by the sky kissing peaks very nearby. But the striking feature is its proximity to the snow clad mountains. Other than being the most revered honeymoon destination, it is known for its nature traits, and adventure sport lovers.

The Manali Sanctuary has an area that covers 3,180 hectares of land. The sanctuary came into the eyes of people or notified in the year 1954 on 26th February. The place is easily accessible by all the three modes of transport. The nearest airport is the Bhuntar airport, which is just 52 km from Manali. One can board a taxi from the airport to Manali. The railway station nearest to Manali is the Jogindernagar Station, which is 95 km from the town of Kullu. The exotic sceneries of Kullu can be enjoyed by boarding a taxi to Manali. The roads too connect the town with the rest of the places in the state very well. So reaching the Manali Sanctuary is not at all of any issue.

This sanctuary that is dedicated to wildlife is situated in the northern parts of the state. The sanctuary begins about 2 km distance from the town of Manali. Dense Deodar, Kail, Horse Chestnut, Walnut and Maple trees flank the street that leads to the sanctuary. During the summers herds of birds like the Ibex are seen migrating in the glacier zone of the sanctuary. There are number of different spices of animals found in this sanctuary. Some of the common animals seen here are Musk deer, snow leopard, and brown bear. The area was declared as a sanctuary under the Punjab Birds and Wild Animals Protection Act of 1933. The Himalayan region not only serves as a pleasant spot for the tourists to enjoy the nature's beauty. But also invite wildlife enthusiasts to admire the forests and the wildlife. Thousands and thousands of tourists visit every year to this place to be the part of Himachal Pradesh's wildlife. Manali Sanctuary is one of the 32 sanctuaries in Himachal Pradesh and is known as the magnificent gem of all. The best time to visit this place is during the months of October to February.
