Lahaul and Spiti are twin remote valleys of Himachal Pradesh. Nature trails in Lahaul & Spiti is a beautiful and fun loving activity.Only road facility is available to access the Lahaul valley. Manali-Leh highway is one of the highest mountain roads in the world. It passes through the sub division of Lahaul and Ladakh to cross the great Himalayas. Rohatang Pass connects the Kullu valley and the Lahaul-Spiti valley passing through the Pir Panjal range of Himalayas. It is identified as the most dangerous due to its unpredictable snowstorms. Hence, it is open only from June to November. The Kullu valley is the entry point of Rohatang pass, known for its lush green nature and vibrant Hindu culture. While, Lahaul and Spiti, the most dry desert region of Himalayas range is known for its Tibetan Culture. It is the most chilling experience of nature trails in Lahaul & Spiti.
The Rohatang Pass experiences immense traffic jams, since it is the only way to reach Lahaul and Spiti. The beautiful Chandrabhaga range, which is right across the pass, can be seen while passing through Rohatang Pass. The twin peaks of Gepan and Sonapani Glacier are visible from the pass during clear weather. The rule against vehicles to cross the pass is made by local authorities.
Kunzam Pass is located at 60 km from Gamphu. It is at 4590 meters above sea level, higher than that of Rohatang Pass. But what's important is that it provides safe ascent and descent, along with a breathtakingly fascinating panorama.
Keylong is another beautiful creation of nature. It is located at a height of 3350 meters. Heavy rainfall until mid June keeps it at bay from the rest of world. The days of Keylong are hot while nights are extremely cold. During season, taxis and HRTC buses from Manali and Lahaul are available to reach Keylong. Baralacha Pass, in the vicinity of Keylong, is another worth visiting place of nature trails in Lahaul & Spiti. Adventurous sport activities are the most exciting part of nature trails in Lahaul & Spiti. River rafting, paragliding, fishing, angling, jeep safari and camping are among the most attractive summer activities of Lahaul and Spiti, while skiing is the winter activity. Kardang Ski Slope, Sumnam Ski Slope, Gondhala Ski Slope and Triloknath Ski Slop are the most favored slopes for the skiing purpose. Tandi Bridge, the confluence point of Chandra and Bhaga Rivers is ideal for river rafting.
