It was built by Prince Dwarkanath Tagore in the early eighteenth century. He was the grandfather of the renowned poet, novelist and dramatist Rabindranath Tagore.

A visit to Jorasanko Thakur Bari takes you back to the eighteenth and early nineteenth century when the Tagore family resided there. All their furniture, clothes, paintings, and articles of daily use have been restored for the future generations to see. Jorasanko Thakur Bari also has several documents and writings that speak of the close-knit relation between the Tagore family with the Bengal Renaissance and the Brahmo Samaj.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial Museum: Your museum tour to India is incomplete without a visit to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial Museum. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial is built in the memory of the well known Indian independence activist and political leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial is a museum and exhibition center situated at Moti Shahi Mahal in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat in India.

The central hall in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial has several portraits of Patel, his family, friends and his allies who took an active part in the Indian freedom struggle.

In other rooms of Sardar Sarovar hall, you will be able to see the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi which includes his portraits, pictures, quotes, busts, statues and books. Nehru Museum of Science and Technology:

Nehru Museum of Science and Technology was established in the year 1990. The building reflects the Byzantine style of architecture. The building was originally used by the British to imprison freedom fighters. During the post-independence period, it was renovated and Nehru Museum of Science and Technology was founded.

Nehru Museum of Science and Technology has many indoor exhibits including technical models brought from various institutes and organizations all over India. The park outside the museum showcases 14 open-air demonstrations and outdoor exhibits that also include a hunter plane and a steam engine. The archive room in Nehru Museum of Science and Technology contains important documents relating to history of the institute and Midnapore district.
