The royal city of India, Jaipur is famed for its rich cultural heritage, glimpses of which can still be witnessed in and around the place, drawing tourists from all over the world. The Hawa Mahal, which in earlier times was meant to be a window for royal ladies to take a peek at the daily life and processions in the town, is now a major tourist attraction of the place.
The City Palace complex in the heart of Jaipur occupies a large area divided into a series of courtyards, gardens and buildings. Today the Palace offers a perfect blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture and is a major tourist attraction of the place. Next to the City Palace entrance is the Jantar Mantar, an observatory built in 1728. The Jaipur observatory is the largest and the best preserved of the five built by Jai Singh, and is worth a visit by anyone touring the place. Not far from the observatory is Albert Hall, the finest example of Indo-Saracenic architecture in the famous Ram Niwas Garden, which houses the state museum of Rajasthan, the Central Museum. The Nahargarh Fort, built by Jai Singh II in 1734 as a retreat for his wives along with the monolithic Amber Fort and the invincible Jaigrah Fort, nestled in the Aravalli valleys are some of the places, without seeing which, your trip to Jaipur will be incomplete.
