Maharani ki Chhatri is a special funeral area for the maharanis or the royal ladies of Jaipur. It is located on the Amber Road (National Highway 8) just before the Ramgarh road crossing near the Jal Mahal. The site has some very beautiful cenotaphs built in the memory of various ladies of the royal family of Jaipur.
There are some very beautifully carved cenotaphs in this royal crematorium with typical royal chhatris. Some cenotaphs are built with marble, while for others local stones have been used. The grand cenotaphs of the royal ladies are evidence of the status and importance of these women among the nobility of Jaipur.
