| The city of Jamshedpur is known as the 'Steel City of India' due to the well established Tata Steel Company in the city. The city is located in the Jharkhand state and is bordered by Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Dalma Mountain Range and stretches over an area of about 193 square kilometers. The main attraction of this park is the elephants. Elephants migrate to this sanctuary during summers due to availability of water here, even during this hot season. Other animals that are found in this sanctuary include sloth bear, barking deer, porcupines, tigers, leopards and many more.
The steep slopes of Dalma Mountain Range are a favourite base for trekkers. Several hideouts have been made in the forest for the watchers, for viewing wild animals and birds. On the top of the mountain there is a guest house of the Forest Department and Tata Steel. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on top of the mountain. |
