Sangat is an important festival of Gudri Baza Mohalla of Chatra where an old manuscript of holy Gurugranth Saheb is placed. It is the main festival of Udasi Panth of Sikh community. The literal meaning of Sangat is company. It holds a deep religious significance. A group of men, women and children come together for a religious gathering, in the company of Guru Granth Sahib.

It is the most respected festival for the Sikhs as well as Hindus. Chatra is known as the symbol of mutual harmony as Hindu, Muslim and Sikhs reside together with peace and harmony. Karma is one of the religious festivals of Jharkhand. On the day of this festival, devotees observe a day long fast. The cultural celebration of this festival is held around a branch of Sal tree, keeping it in the center of an open ground.
The Sohrah is a popular and most awaited festival of Jharkhand. It is celebrated in the November month, during the Diwali festivities. It has a strong association with the cattle. During this festival, the cattle are washed and worshiped. Great amusements and bullfights are the attractions of this festival. | Sarhaul is the main festival of the tribal communities of Jharkhand. Worship of sal tree is the verbal meaning of Sarhul. Sal tree is believed to be the house of Goddess Sarna. The main intention of this festival is to protect the village from all types of natural disasters. Along with this, Goddess Sita, the wife of Lord Rama,is also worshipped in some areas.
Another famous festival of the state is the Basant Panchami. This festival is celebrated with the same passion and dedication in Jharkhand as in the rest of the country. It is famed as the welcome festival for the spring season.

This festival is celebrated twice in a year, once in the month of Chaitra or March, and another time in the month of Kartik or November. The Muslim festivals are also celebrated with the same fervor and joy. Eid-ul-Fitr, Bakri-Id and Moharrum are the main Muslim festivals of the state. During Muharram festival, men are seen taking out gold and silver replicas of old, Nawabi times and beat their breasts constantly .

Chaitra Mela, Kundri Mela of Chatra, Kolhua Mela of Hunterganj, Kolhaiya Mela of Chatra, Lawalong Mela, Tutilawal Mela of Simaria and Bhadli Mela of Itkhori are some of the famous fairs of Jharkhand.
