Tourists know this place as a popular picnic spot. Other waterfall is the famous Dassam Falls, which lies at 40 kilometers from the city, on the Ranchi-Tata Road. River Kanchi falls from a height of about 144 feet to form this waterfall. It is also known as Dassam Ghagh. These waterfalls are surrounded by charming scenes. Panch Ghagh Falls, Jonha Falls and Hirni Falls are other major attractions of nature trail of Ranchi.

Panch Ghagh Falls lies on Chaibasa Road, at about 55 kilometers from Ranchi. Here the river divides into five streams and therefore is named as Panch Ghagh. Jonha Falls, also known as Gautamdhara, is at about 40 kilometers distance from Ranchi. This fall is named after Gautam Buddha. At a distance of around 70 kilometers from Ranchi there lies the Hirni Falls. Here the ambience of dense Hirni forest with green trees and a variety of birds as well as animals, captivate the tourists. Hirni Falls is located amidst this forest.

The animals and birds can be watched in their natural habitat at the famous wildlife sanctuaries in and around Ranchi. Located at a distance of about 180 kilometers from the Ranchi city, Palamau Sanctuary spreads across a vast area of about 979 square kilometers.

The forests of this park have a vast range of flora, consisting of alpine forests, tropical wet evergreen forests and deciduous forests. The Koel river with its tributaries, flows from the northern portion of the park. The waterfalls and hot springs too abound in this greenery. There are watch towers for the tourists to view the diverse fauna of the park. Nature trail of Ranchi can also include Hazaribagh National Park and Birsa Jaivik Udyan. These parks are also teeming with enchanting flora and fauna. Elephants and jeeps are also available to have a ride through forests, and enjoy the wildlife and nature of these adventurous parks.
