Bhangandeshwara Temple

Bhangandeshwara Temple

The district of Coorg is famous for its natural beauty and temples. This district is situated in the picturesque region of the Western Ghats. Hence tourists coming here can experience a peaceful tour. Along with its beautiful natural points like the Raja's seat, the Madikeri fort etc tourists can visit the beautiful temples of Omkareshwara and Bhangandeshwara Temple.

The Bhangandeshwara Temple is located on the confluence of three rivers. The Cauvery and the Kanike Rivers flow over the ground while the Sujyothi flows underground. Hence this place is known as the Triveni Sangama.

The Bhangandeshwara Temple has distinctive Keralite architecture. This temple is decorated with intricate cravings and a beautiful copper roof. As the atmosphere of the temple is serene it attracts a large number of tourists. Many tourists believe that if you take a dip in the waters of the Triveni Sangama your sins are washed off.

The tourists who are not here for religious purpose can visit the temple and its surroundings for a relaxing experience. A dip in the waters at the confluence will definitely relax you after a tiring trip. But the tourists have to take the permission of the temple before entering the waters.

After visiting the Bhangandeshwara Temple tourists can go for trekking to the Brahmagiri peak. This is the source of river Cauvery. This river is one of the sacred rivers in India and flows through two states. Trip to the Brahmagiri peak will give you a beautiful view of Kodagu or Coorg.

The best time to visit this temple is during the Tulasankranama. This festival is celebrated on the 17th October. Every year tourists from around India visit this place to swim and pray at the holy waters of the Triveni Sangama. Hence during the months of October the temple and its surroundings are bustling with tourists.

Tourists can catch a bus or a taxi from the town of Madikeri to reach this temple. It takes about 90 minutes to reach this spot. While traveling to this place you will witness the scenic beauty of Coorg.

Hence Coorg is often called the Scotland of India. Once you visit this place you never feel like going. And once you witness the beautiful Bhangandeshwara Temple in its scenic surroundings it will become a part of your memory.
