Out of these, about 50 are international flights to/from Karnataka. It is recorded that the HAL airport handled more than three million passengers in last year. The Government of Karnataka wants to start a second international airport near Devanahalli, in the outskirts of Bangalore.

The Bangalore based Air Deccan plans to introduce the 30 ATR turbo-props and the 30 A320 airbus aircraft by the next month. This will add about ten more flights to/from Karnataka. These flights will operate from Bangalore alone.
