Brindavan Gardens

Brindavan Gardens

Brindavan Gardens is a world famous terrace garden of Mysore, spreading across 150 acres of land, located around 15 kilometers away from the center of the city. It is a show garden with a beautiful botanical park, boat rides and dancing fountains. Sir M. Vishveswariah, one of the finest engineers of India, built the Krishnaraja Sagar dam on the river Cauvery, in 1924. The Brindavan Gardens, designed by Sir Mirza Ismail, is situated below the Krishnaraja Sagar dam. It is well known for its symmetric design. The Mughal style design of the garden is modeled on the design of the Kashmir's Shalimar Gardens.

The main gate of Brindavan Gardens resembles the India Gate of New Delhi. Rose gardens on the either side give a pleasant view. The garden has beautiful lawns and shrubs. Thousands of fountains in different sizes and shapes are decorated with colorful lamps, and are set to dance to the tune of pleasant music. After sunset, the beauty of the garden increases due to bright colorful fountains, dancing on the pleasant soft music. The steps bordered by the watercourses on both sides form the attraction for tourists. The beautiful rows of a variety of marvelous flowers give a wonderful look to this garden. The river Cauvery runs through the gardens providing boating facilities to the tourists.

The glass houses an impressive collection of various flowering and non-flowering plants. Children's park in Brindavan Gardens has slides and concrete animals, birds and aquatic species. Fruit orchard and horticulture farms are also present here which are other attractive places from the tourists' point of view.
