What to do in Bijapur

Tourists mainly come to Bijapur to witness the historic sites and palaces. This city was the capital of the Mughal dynasty during the reign of the Mohammad Adil shah. Hence, the culture, architecture and even the social life of the people in Bijapur is largely influenced by the Mughals.

The tourists who are interested in weapons and battlegrounds can visit the famous Malik-e-Maidan. This is one of the largest metal cannon in the world. It is 4.45m long and 1.5m wide. This gun weighs about 55 tons. The most interesting thing about this cannon is that it is always cool to touch even under the scorching sun. The muzzle of this cannon is craved into a shape of the head of lion crushing an elephant. Locals believe that your wish is granted by touching this cannon.

The Jumma Mashjid is one of the most beautiful mosques in India. This mosque was built during the Adil Shahi reign. This mosque is the embodiment of the Adil Shahi architecture. The mosque carefully preserves a Quran, which is inscribed, in gold letters.

After visiting all these tourist attractions, travelers are faced with a question of what to do in Bijapur. As a solution to this question, tourists can go for small excursions to the nearby cities of Aihole and Badami. The town of Aihole was the capital of the Chalukyan Empire; therefore, it is the location of many Hindu temples.
