Detailed Content of Rabindra Sarovar

Rabindra Sarovar is an artificial lake located in South Kolkata. Apart from the lake which is the main attraction, there is a well maintained park as well. The water body and the availability of wide open space makes it an ideal picnic spot. The lush greenery and fresh air of the Sarovar is an open invitation to the fitness fanatics and they can be seen going about their paces in the early morning and evening.

Towards the southern part of the lake is a little island which can be reached via a wooden bridge. While crossing the bridge, you are advised to stop and spend some time on the bridge so that you can watch a wide variety of colorful fishes playing hide and seek on the surface of the water.

For water sport enthusiasts, there is a Rowing Club and you can do a bit of rowing at this shimmering lake. There is a state-of-the-art swimming pool as well.

The serenity of the surroundings around Rabindra Sarovar is further enhanced by the magnificent Japanese Buddhist temple towards the south of the lake. Inside the temple, there is an eerie silence and it's a good place for contemplation.

If you have children accompanying you, don't leave them behind under the care of babysitters. Instead, a visit to Rabindra Sarovar will be to your children's delight as they ride on the Toy Train, which is especially meant for the tiny tots. All in all, the Rabindra Sarovar is any picnicker's delight.
