Udaipur is famous for its placid lakes, mighty palaces and forts, and majestic havelis. Untouched by the Mughal rule, Udaipur stands as an exemplification of Rajputna's architectural excellence at its peak. Its most beautiful lakes like the Fateh Sagar and Lake Pichola are great spots for young lovers to unwind. Besides there is Bagore-Ki-Haveli, which is an 18th century palace. It is one of the prominent tourist attractions in and around Udaipur. It is well preserved and the mirror work and glasses have intricate and delicate designs on them. Located on the banks of the Lake Pichola, nothing can be more pleasing than experiencing a traditional Rajasthani entertainment from here while enjoying the lake's scenic views.

The Lake Palace, with its beautiful fountains and lovely gardens, located in the middle of the picturesque Pichola Lake covering 1.43 hectares of the Jag Nivas island, attracts all with its tasteful architecture and intricate craftsmanship. It is one of those places which looks like a virtual heaven on earth and is a part of the tourist attractions in and around Udaipur. Today this erstwhile summer residence of the Mewar rulers has transformed into a luxury hotel. On Lake Pichola there is another grand palace named Jag Mandir Palace, which is a three-storied majestic palace made of yellow sandstone and marble. Gul Mahal is the main attraction of this beautiful island palace.

The City Palace, which stands majestically overlooking Lake Pichola, is definitely a place to be visited. Built in granite and marble by Maharana Udai Singh, it is the largest palace complex in the state of Rajasthan. Its Ruby Palace with its terrific collection of glass and mirror works, and its Pearl Palace with magnificent mirror works and ornamental tiled walls really make one awestruck. The museum which was the main part of the palace, displays armoury and diverse artefacts.

One shouldn't miss out on the Kumbalgarh Fort either, which must feature in your tourist attractions in and around Udaipur. This mighty fort has been witness to more than six centuries of turbulent histories. This 15th century fort has 36 km long perimeter walls; which is second only to the Great Wall of China. The massive fort houses 360 temples, out of which 300 belong to the Jains, while the rest are Hindu temples.

In the vicinity of Udaipur, Eklingji temple complex can give the religious tourists a wonderful spiritual exploration. This complex houses 108 temples of marble and sandstone with exquisite stone carvings. A black stone image of Vishnu and a brass image of Garuda are the sculptural highlights of this temple complex.
