Anand Bhawan the ancestral house of the Nehru family is located in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh in India. This house was constructed in the Victorian style of architecture in the city of Allahabad. This was the place where the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru spent his childhood years.
The Anand Bhawan has witnessed many several historic events during the time of pre independence and freedom struggle. This place holds an important significance as the first National Congress emerged in 1885. Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, also spent some of his days in Anand Bhawan. He also began his non-violence movement in 1920 from here.

It was also the home of Indira Gandhi who donated the house to the Indian Government in 1970 after which it was converted into a museum. The gallery of the museum houses the pictures and portrays the life and times during the pre independence period. The most interesting part of the museum is the bedroom and the study room of Jawaharlal Nehru. The study section consists of numerous books in the bookshelves of the titles dedicated to Marx and Lenin. It also houses a room, which runs an audio-visual presentation of "The Story of Independence". The museum is very well kept and maintained which makes a worth visiting place for the tourists.
