If you are planning to go to Lucknow for a holiday, you should have enough information about transportation in Lucknow. As Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh, all means of transportation are available at Lucknow. You can reach Lucknow by air, rail and road.

Lucknow is well connected by air with major metros and towns in India. Lucknow airport is at Amausi, about 15 km from city. Lucknow is connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Calcutta and Varanasi by direct flights from Amausi airport.

Two main railway junctions of Lucknow are- Charbagh and Lucknow. Lucknow is on New Delhi - Varanasi railway route via Agra and Allahabad. Lucknow junction is suitably connected to many cities. Some important trains are Shatabdi Express, Nainital Express, Sabarmati Express, Avadh-Assam Express, Neelanchal Express, Ganga-Yamuna Express, Lucknow Mail, Gomti Express, Kashi-Vishwanath Express, and NavChandi Express.

There are three main bus stands in Lucknow. These are located at Charbagh, Alambagh and Kaisar Bagh. The luxury AC bus is available from Kaisar Bagh Bus Stand for New Delhi. The root of this bus is Lucknow - Sitapur - Barailly - Muradabad - New Delhi.

Lucknow is connected by road with all major cities of India. Some road distances from Lucknow are: Agra - 363 km, Allahabad - 210 km, Ayodhya - 135 km, Culcutta - 985 km, Corbett National Park - 400 km, Delhi - 497 km, Dudhwa National Park - 238 km, Kanpur - 79 km, Khajuraho - 320 km, Varanasi - 650 km.

There are local buses run by the transport department of the state government. Moreover, there are some private tourist buses run by travel agents. There are many auto rickshaws in the Lucknow city. There are metered rickshaws, but sometimes they are ready to go on specific amount. Travel agents will provide taxis. Some hotels also provide taxi service for their customers. It is the most comfortable option. But be aware of fixing the cost before boarding the taxi.
