Kishnapur Sanctuary is an enchanting sanctuary in the northern zones of India. Located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, this exotic reserve was established in the year 1972. The beautiful emerald sanctuary rambles over a vast area of 227 sq. km. It is situated in a refreshing environment of the Tarai woods. The vast stretches of grasslands offer a unique beauty to this sanctuary.

The Kishnapur Sanctuary is one of the most famous sanctuaries of Uttar Pradesh. It is the perfect dwelling place for numerous tigers. The animals here feel free to roam in the dense woods of the sanctuary. The official workforce in the sanctuary have provided for telescopes at some specific points, so as to get a glimpse of some rare species of animals.

The sanctuary is a heavenly abode to the leopards and offers them ample of space, food and water as well. If you are lucky enough, you can see some of them resting on the dense trees in the sanctuary. The sanctuary has made provisions for the safety of the visitors. So, a visit to this sprawling stretches of forests will be a relaxed experience for you.

Groups of Swamp Deer can also be spotted in the Kishnapur Sanctuary. Being covered by the dense woods, the place is home to some rare species of reptiles. The lake in the interiors of the sanctuary is also a dwelling of numerous crocodiles. Most animals can be spotted at the lake side in the night in search of food and water. Some Jungle Fowls, Hornbills, Peafowl, Woodpecker, Partridges, Geese, Ducks and Fishing Eagles are also present in the sanctuary. You can also view Nilgai, Alligators, Wild Boars and Chital at the place. The sanctuary can be visited in all times of the year.

Kishnapur Sanctuary is quite accessible by all the means of transport. Mailani in Uttar Pradesh serves the sanctuary with its nearest Railway line. Kishnapur is also connected to almost all the cities of Uttar Pradesh through roadways. Laksmipur-Kheri and Bareilly are the two cities connecting Kishnapur with almost all other major cities of Uttar Pradesh.

Provisions for budget lodging have been made for in the forest and tourist rest houses in Bhira, Mailani and kishnapur. The Kishnapur Sanctuary is an ideal destination for animal lovers as zoologists who wish to research the living styles of animals in their natural habitat.
