Since Uttaranchal is located in midst of snow-clad mountains of Himalayas the climate in the state is bound to be chilly during the winter. The weather in Uttaranchal has wide Himalayan influence. During the month of December the temperature drops to 2.4 C while in the summers the average temperature hovers around 35--40 C.

The best time to visit Uttaranchal is from April to June or after the monsoons from September to mid-November. Sometimes there's mild snowfall during the summers in parts of the hilly regions of Uttaranchal. Thus, weather in Uttaranchal is known for its diverse climatic regions.
