Digha is the most favorite sea resort of West Bengal state of India. It was originally known as Beerkul. This is the best option for a memorable weekend. Chandaneswar is yet another tourist attraction in and around Digha is just 6 km from Digha, which is famous for a Shiva temple. An annual fair is organized at this temple in the last month of Bengali calendar. Devotees from Bengal, Orissa and Bihar visit this place during the fair. Chandipur is a sea resort near Chandaneswar, while Talsheri is famous for its dense forests of sal, pial (a type of nut tree) and tamarisk (jhau) on the Bay of Bengal. Shankarpur is a recently discovered twin beach of Digha. It is just 14 km from Digha. It offers a memorab;le experience in a private beach with casuarinas plantation. The Shankarpur fishing harbor is the main attraction beside long tree-lined beach.
