Another popular sea resort of Bay of Bengal is Chandipur, located just 16 km from Balasore. It is often referred to as 'the land of hidden treasures'. It lies on the eastern coast of India at the Orissa-West Bengal border. Sun, sand and sea along with the whistling breeze of the casuarinas makes an extraordinary ambience.

Chandipur has one of the fine beaches of country. During low tides of sea, water pulls back almost 1 to 5 km and returns at the time of high tides. The whistling creepers of the casuarinas create a memorable experience for the visitors during the hide and seek of seawater. During low tied a jeep ride on the beach is also possible. You can have the pleasure of collecting seashells and driftwoods during this time. If you want to take an experience of angling, some local anglers can take you in the seawater.

Integrated Test Range (ITR) of Indian Army is another attraction of Chandipur. A number of missiles like Agni, Akash and Prithvi ballistic missiles have been launched from the ITR of Chandipur. An artificial bird sanctuary Nisarg and a Deer Park are also the part of ITR. It houses a variety of aquatic fauna along with thousands of migratory birds. During winter some Siberian birds also visit this place.

You can enjoy the annual dance festival on the beach of Chandipur. This festival includes folk dances from Bihar, Punjab and Rajasthan. Artist from all over the country gather here to perform during the festival.

Panchlingeswar is famous for its temple of Lord Shiva, which is just 45 km from Chandipur. Nilgiri is another holy place, famous for the Jagannath Temple. Remuna and Simlipal are yet another tourist's destinations. You can rent a car for excursion tours in and around Chandipur.

Kalkatta and Bhubaneshwar are the nearest airports of Chandipur. You can board either train or bus from Kalkatta and Bhubaneshwar to reach Chandipur. The nearest railway station of Chandipur is Balaspore. Regular bus and car service make an easy access to this place.
